Racing-Puma.co.uk at the NEC Classic Car and Restoration Show

So, the Classic Car and Restoration show at the NEC in Birmingham was last weekend (Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th March 2018) it had been 14 long years since a dedicated stand was put on for the Ford Racing Puma.

As a group we had tried applied for 3 years to get in, but 2018 was our year. We were accepted for a small stand that would accommodate 4 cars with space for banners, show pieces and display stands for the cars.

We begged, borrowed and stole (not really) as much as we could to allow us to produce a professional looking stand. My local Ford dealership 'Evans Halshaw', Wolverhampton kindly donated 4 display stands to showcase information on each car we had on display.

Simon pillaged his spares box and put together a display board showing the various parts and components that were changed to make a normal Puma into a Racing Puma.

James bravely put his car forward for our live restoration (being a restoration show it was expected that we did live work on the car whilst at the show) being our first even we thought we may as well go in hard or go home so we decided to do a full front end restoration of the running gear. So this meant dropping the subframe, wishbones, ARB, suspension, brakes, calipers, brake lines and steering rack. All of which were changed for either brand new or refurbished items. We also pushed the boat out and changed various other engine components including the alternator, MAF, throttle body, coil pack, radiators and coolant hoses.

Over the 3 days we completed the work and the car even made it safely back to North Yorkshire without a hic-up!

We had a fantastic weekend and would like to thank the show organisers for having us and for everyone who stopped by to see the cars and have a chat!

Had a nice chat with the guys working on the car at the show. My son and I are road rallying a Puma and it was nice to get a few tips on specifications for the car. Hope to see you guys again somewhere. Cheers.
